VooDoo Magic

With 24/7 access and only 7 locations to experience the magic, what better place to try out my next donut adventure than in Denver, Colorado at VooDoo Doughnuts?! Thank you to my friend, Isabelle, for graciously thinking of my "needs" and weird obsession and taking me to this amazing place.
The name of the shop fits the concept perfectly as the brain child is named "Cat Daddy", and they have over 50 different donuts (most with a unique name like "Old Dirty Bastard" & "Memphis Mafia").

While my first option of a donut did not have a unique name or design, it was rather good! The Chocolate Old Fashioned was like one I have never had before. The dough was not your typical soft cake donut, but crunchy! And I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was! Now, the topping could have used more chocolate on it, but the crunch of the dough gave the donut a unique & irresistible taste. When I say crunchy, don't go thinking of a pretzel, but rather a slice of bread getting toasted for just a minute- still soft but that crunch on the crust.
My second option, I left up to the VooDoo Doughnut worker, and I did not regret it. While the picture makes the donut look unappetizing, it wasn't- and I assure you that if you have a chance to try this donut you will want another.
And rightfully so, this donut is called "Pot Hole." It is a Bavarian cream filled yeast donut that has an Oreo cookie topping that covers the chocolate glaze. And to my surprise, as I took a bite into heaven, I got a peanut butter taste! How could you go wrong with peanut butter, oreos and chocolate?! You can't.

Although, I am a huge fan of Bavarian cream donuts, I have yet to find one that has the perfect amount of cream in the donut, and unfortunately, I have to keep on looking. This "Pot Hole" donut did not have enough cream! You were overloaded on dough and oreos, which let's get this straight- is not a bad thing, but I still would have like more filling to round out the whole donut!
Overall, what an amazing experience! When we walked into the doors at 9:30 pm to get the dessert fix in, the line was long, but by the time we left the shop, the line was OUT THE DOOR! Clearly, this is a staple, so if you have a chance to go to VooDoo Doughnuts, do it.

Special shout out to Isabelle for taking me to find my donut, but also for making my first non work Denver trip one to remember. The views of the mountains were amazing, the company was even better and I can't wait to come back!
